While dancing with my son…

I am an entrepreneur mom and I want to share with you a bit of my story.  Just days after my adorable son, was born, he was always happy, smiling and laughing out loud. I realized I didn’t want to miss his smiles and laughter and I stayed at home to take care of my son 24 hours a day.  I wanted to be the one who taught him his first words and I wanted to be there for all his firsts – crawling, walking, etc. 

At that point I knew that I wanted to work from home, but I wanted to create something special that I could enjoy and be passionate about as well as be able to share with myson.  After all, he was going to share my work space too.

One day while I was dancing with my son, I realized how much he enjoyed the music. He was laughing and singing along and as I watched him, I remembered how sometimes he had moved inside my belly when I used to play children’s music CDs for him.  By three months old he was making sounds, trying to sing along when he heard the music. All of this brought back memories of my own childhood…memories of my brother and me dancing with my mother, how I enjoyed listening to music with my dad, and how I had always been exposed to different music genres from my family members.

Time had gone by, and now it was me dancing with my son, and we were getting so much joy from something so simple -- listening and dancing to the music.

I wanted to share that special moment, to give that opportunity to other moms like me -- to create wonderful memories and bring a collection of CDs that children and moms could enjoy together while learning at the same time.

And that’s how, that day, The Kids Fun World was created and Andre, my dance partner, became my inspiration and business partner.

I searched for enjoyable, fun and educational music that could be shared between children and adults. Part of my research included Andre and me listening to a great variety of music CDs together many times.  As we sang and danced to the different songs, I carefully made note of his reactions:  did he like it, did it give him joy, did it make him laugh, did it bore him?  And in addition to that, what was he learning from the song?  After I had selected a group of songs based on my son’s reactions, I “tested” them out on other children – my cousins, my neighbors, and the children of my friends.  Only those songs that gained the approval of all of these “expert judges” were chosen to be included in our collection. 

The music was the beginning, but then I thought – why stop there?  I began to research other fun and educational products in the same way, using my same panel of “experts.”  It was, and is, my goal to bring a wide variety of such “kid-tested” educational products to other mothers like myself who want to help their children acquire basic knowledge, good manners and to introduce them to other cultures and languages.            

As parents it is our joy and our responsibility to create a better world for our children.  I sincerely hope that The Kids Fun World can assist you in creating that world for YOUR child!
